Let's Get Started

I love a good experiment, social or otherwise. I love too cook, and my kitchen is my favorite place to experiment. People have often asked me for advice on menu planning and meal prepping, I try to answer as best I can. but it's second nature to me, and just part of my life style. When I became inspired to write this blog, I had a few goals in mind, and I thought that I might be able to help others by giving them a glimpse into the tips and tricks I use, and how it all fits into my busy life. Hopefully they can take a few of the things that work for me, and incorporate them into strategies that work for them.

I have experimented with different ways of eating (The Zone, Paleo, etc) I know there are lots of testimonials out there for all of the different diets, all I can speak to is how I felt on each one of them. I love eating clean. I don't really have a sweet tooth. I never did, but by eating clean, I actually lost my taste for sweets. I am a proponent of eating as minimally to non processed foods as possible. Quite often I will post a paleo recipe, but that is because I like it, my family likes it, and I actually enjoy eating clean, and I like the way clean eating makes me feel overall.

The goals, or things I am interested in monitoring over the course of the year include;  How my family can reduce waste, save money, eat as minimally to non processed as possible. This means that I do the majority of the cooking, or I have specific meals that my husband will cook. If I left it up to him, my family would eat pigs in a blanket all the time.  Other things I am paying attention to are how long I can go without repeating a meal. I've gone 12 weeks in the past, but the natives get restless, and start requesting their favorites. Lastly, as a personal trainer, I work a split shift 3 days a week, and am not home those evenings during dinner, so I am making it a goal to make sure my family eats dinner at the table on the nights I am home. I want to see how our family dynamic changes over the course of the year. I have one daughter who is 12, and one son who is 10. I am hoping to strengthen our familial bonds as we enter the teenage years.

I will be posting the recipes for the dinners we eat, and writing about how I prepped for the week, or the particular meal to make things easy on myself. I would love it, if you decide to comment on any post, you add your favorite recipe.

Happy cooking
